Brian Fahey Named Head of Coach NY Apple Core Junior Team

Graham Johnson has accepted a job as the Head Coach of the Men’s Hockey team at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Asst Coach Brian Fahey has been promoted to Head Coach the Core in 2018-19

August 14th, 2018
New York Apple Core Hockey Club
The New York Apple Core Junior Hockey Club in the Eastern Hockey League has several exciting announcements to make in regards to the upcoming season:

After a successful two year stint as the head coach of the Core, Graham Johnson has accepted a job as the Head Coach of the Men’s Hockey team at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In his two years here, our Hockey Club went to the playoffs twice, advancing to the Mid-Atlantic’s second round last season. We’re very proud of Graham and the work he did here, and wish the burgeoning Johnson family happiness and success in the Midwest. Graham follows previous Apple Core Head Coach Bill Silengo to the Division III collegiate coaching ranks: Bill has been the Head Coach of the Men’s Hockey team at Castleton State since 2016.
We’re excited to promote from within: Brian Fahey will be elevated from the Assistant capacity he served in for the past two years to take the reins of our 2018-19 squad. He is the eighth Head Coach of the New York Apple Core Junior Hockey Club, founded in 1992 by Bob and Steve Santini. Brian played college hockey at Worcester State University and has since transitioned to a successful run as a coach at the youth and junior levels; In addition to the role he held with the Core last year, Brian was the head coach of the Westchester Express AAA PeeWee ’06 and Midget Minor ’01 teams. A dedicated and enthusiastic competitor with an eye for talent and a mind for tactics, Coach Fahey will look to build upon last year’s success and establish the Apple Core as a power in the EHL, while maintaining the focus on being the region’s premier program for junior players to progress and meet their individual goals: To date, the Core has sent over 250 alumni on to play College Hockey.
The Apple Core will be retaining Associate Coach Eric Soltys (Also a regional scout for the Calgary Flames) and Goaltender Coach Matt Voity (Also the Goaltender Coach for Division I American International College) as well as adding Marvin Minkler as Assistant; Marvin is the new Hockey Director at the Apple Core’s home rink, the Brewster Ice Arena, after successful tenures at the SoNo Ice House in Norwalk and Stamford Twin Rinks, coaching several youth teams to the National Championship Tournament. A military veteran who played at Worcester State and the University of Scranton, Coach Minkler has worked with some of the area’s top talent (including Jonathan Quick, Cam Atkinson, and Max Pacioretty) and will bring his fierce work ethic and intensity to the program in support of Coach Fahey.
For additional information contact Vice President & General Manager Steve Santini via email or phone at the Brewster Ice Arena. (Information above) 845.279.2229

We are still looking for Billet families to host these young student-athletes in pursuit of playing College Hockey
